TIME
The float will be in the line up no later than about 8:30 or 9:00 - so come early and get your groove on!

LOCATION
See map at
http://www.halandmals.com/stpat/page2.html

DRESS
The parade is funky-casual and everything in between. If you’re not into the costume thing wear comfortable clothes for a summer-like day – it gets pretty warm.

WALKERS & RIDERS
Please be prepared to be a walker. We must have a set number of designated walkers on each side of the float, and those are the rules. Past walkers have has just as much fun, if not more (ahem… Andy, Caroline and Chris) than riders. Walkers will be determined by lottery system that day. You must be present to win.

DRINK
We'll have multiple kegs on the float, but if beer's not your thing, please bring water, cokes, wine or whatever you'd like to have. Space is limited so please don't bring over-sized coolers.

THROWS
The float is stocked full of beads, but please feel free to bring any leftover Mardi Gras throws, trinkets, or anything else you might want to share with the crowd.

SUNBURN
We'll have some sunscreen there, but make sure you have some on before you come - it is supposed to be beautiful, 75 degrees, and SUNNY!!

AFTER PARTY
The parade starts at noon and lasts about an hour or an hour and a half. After the parade, the float is moving to Andrew Neely's house (off Meadowbrook, close to Fondren) for an after-parade throw down!

DUES
If you still owe your KREWE DUES please coordinate dropping off a check ($50 per member) no later than THURSDAY night - we do not want to have to keep up with money and 3 kegs at the same time!

Your check goes to your Charter member – your Charter member is your main contact with the float. Charter members include: Chris Myers, John & Katherine Scanlon, Andy White, Caroline Morrison, and Adam & Jennifer Chrestman. If you don't know which member to give your check to, just call or text any of us and we can tell you.

Looking forward to the 2009 Parade and we’ll see you all on Saturday!!

The Design

This is the sketch that I am including on the application. The theme is Katherine's idea...starting with the existing metal roof from the cotton trailer, make the float look like an old juke joint. They are the epitomy of recycling in Mississippi...junk on the walls, mismatched materials, patched walls, etc.

"Recycling our Roots"

Krewe of Slainte (slahn-cha)

from this point forward, we shall be known as the Krewe of Slainte (slahn-cha) or for non-Gaelic speakers, the Krewe of Good Health.

Caroline delivered the check last night, so all I have left to do is make a quick sketch and turn in the application.  I'll be sure to scan and post the sketch once it's done.

Slainte Manh to all!
